Washington, Jul 18, 2008 - Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today announced two federal grants for the Desert Alliance for Community Empowerment (DACE). Issued by the United States Department of Agriculture, the Rural Business Enterprise Grants in the amounts of $200,000 and $90,000 will help DACE continue to promote development and business enterprises in the Coachella Valley.

“I applaud DACE for its continued commitment to increasing opportunities and enhancing quality of life for residents of the Coachella Valley,” said Bono Mack. “These funds will help expand new businesses and development in rural areas of our region that need it the most. Small businesses drive our local economy; they create new jobs and help communities grow. I am pleased that DACE is getting these federal dollars to invest in our community and support its continued growth into the future.”

The Rural Business Enterprise Grants will be used to establish a revolving loan fund serving the Desert Communities Empowerment Zone (DCEZ) and also to help purchase property and promote development of business enterprises for Desert Center communities.

DACE, nominated by Bono Mack, recently received a national honor for Excellence in Economic Development from the Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA).
