Washington, Nov 9 - Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) today issued the following statement on the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall:

“Today, millions of people around the world pause to remember the fall of the Berlin Wall and the historic victory of freedom over tyranny," said Bono Mack. "This day marks the liberation of an ideal that restored the voice of an oppressed people from the shackles of a communist regime.

“Today we also remember the leadership and tenacity of President Ronald Reagan who was committed to the principle of democracy and relentlessly pursued freedom throughout the world. I want to also extend my special appreciation to First Lady Nancy Reagan who supported her husband so steadfastly in this effort and carries on his legacy today.

“As we face threats to our liberties even today, we must never forget the leadership and efforts of those who stood for and courageously fought for their freedom.”
